Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The Nigerian Journal of Pharmacy is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the guidelines and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Duties of Authors
Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. All authors listed must have significantly contributed to the research. Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification is unacceptable.
- Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. Decisions should be based on the paper’s importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors must ensure confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not use unpublished materials for personal research.
- Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers assist editors in editorial decisions and help improve the quality of manuscripts. Reviews should be conducted objectively, and personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and must not use privileged information for personal advantage.
- Publication Ethics Issues
Any allegations of misconduct will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. This includes plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate actions such as retraction or correction will be taken.
- Conflict of Interest
All participants in the publication process must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence their work. Sources of financial support should also be disclosed.
- Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and should be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.
- Ethical Oversight
Research involving human participants or animals must comply with relevant ethical standards and approvals. Evidence of ethical approval should be provided where applicable.
- Corrections and Retractions
When significant errors are identified in published works, corrections or retractions will be issued as appropriate.
This statement aims to ensure transparency, integrity, and trust in scholarly publishing within the Nigerian Journal of Pharmacy.
