Abstract

Tetracycline hydrochloride was coupled with 4-nitrobenzenediazanium hydrogen sulphate in aqueous medium. Freshly prepared cold saturated solution of sodium acetate facilitated the coupling reaction at room temperature thus obviating the high temperature required for coupling in the method of Kakemi, Arita, Sezalci and Nadal(1).
