Biosynthetic Potentialities Of Plant Tissue Culture-A Review
Abstract
The potential of isolated cells of higher plants for the biosynthesis of useful constituents—primary and secondary metabolites—was recognized in the 1950‘s but at that time culture techniques were too exacting and uncertain for general use. Recently, however, rapid advances have led to the development of techniques which allow the routine large scale cultivation of plant cells and thus product biosynthesis has become of considerable contemporary interest.
